If you ask anyone who knows me, even former students, where my favorite place to read is they will unequivocally answer the BEACH. I spend my summer days reading in the sun at the beach. Whether it is books about the newest research in teaching or a piece of historical fiction I can’t put down, a book always accompanies me to the beach. There is nothing I enjoy more than the warm sunshine bouncing off the crisp pages while the salty air rustles the book jacket.

My children have always indulged my love of reading at the beach as long as I balanced reading with some good old-fashioned sandcastle making and boogie boarding. When reading at the beach, the ideas funnel into my brain more clearly. I am able to relax and let the words pour into my thoughts. It’s relaxing and engaging all in one! Now, this is not to say that I don’t enjoy reading in other spots. It would be really hard to curl up with a good book in the middle of the winter on my sand chair at Long Beach. I can and do read just about anywhere I can! But, the beach will forever be my favorite place to enjoy a good book. Where is your favorite place to read?
